About Us

In the early 1970’s, a weekend Islamic school was started with the children of three families and was held in the International Centre. The school as later moved to St. Lawrence College and, then to Calvin Park Public School, under the auspices of the Frontenac County Board of Education.

Alhamdulillah, the size of the Muslim community grew over the years as more people settled down in Kingston. Thus, in September of 1982, the Islamic Society of Kingston became a registered organization in Ontario. It was at this point that the community started to look for a permanent place of worship and other activities. The land for the Islamic Centre was bought in 1987 and, on June 1, 1995, a ground-breaking ceremony was held for its construction.

Our Mission

Our primary goal is to provide students education in the Qur’an and Islamic Studies (ta’leem or religious instruction). Additionally, we strive to support you on the other two important aspects of raising children: tarbiyyah (religious development) and tahdheeb (religious discipline, proper manners).

Abu Hurairah (RAA) reported that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said:

“Seven are (the persons) whom Allah would give protection with His Shade on the Day when there would be no shade but His: …a youth who grew up with the worship of Allah; a person whose heart is attached to the mosque…” [Sahih al-Bukhari]

As Muslims in a predominantly non-Muslim environment, we must actively learn & practise our Deen. We must make an effort to instill the principles that Allah (SWT) gave us, through Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, to the younger generation. By enrolling your child in Islamic School, you will instill a love for & strong attachment to the masjid. As well, this will create a strong bond with other Muslims. Insha Allah, this will lead your child to grow up with the worship of Allah (SWT) & loving their Brothers/Sisters for His sake, earning His Shade. Attending Islamic School will forge a strong Muslim identity that will help your child make wise decisions when they face new challenges, strengthening their connection to Allah (SWT), Insha Allah.
